King's Lynn Memory Lane & All Our Yesterdays: West Lynn ex-John Bamber Engineering employees; plus Hunstanton, Sandringham, Downham Market and North Wootton

This Lynn News picture was taken at a reunion for around 80 ex-John Bamber Engineering employees, who enjoyed a get-together at West Lynn Community Centre in June 1995.

They had worked together at the Hardwick Industrial Estate firm – which manufactured gearbox components – before it closed in 1981. The reunion organiser was Andy Reeve, of Lynn, who said: “Many people still live locally, but some came from as far away as Derby and Maidenhead, and this event was just like our old Saturday nights at the social club.”

June 2003: Lynn Lions provided family entertainment – at a stretch – at their annual Fun Day at The Walks. An appeal to West Norfolk women to donate their old bras to help raise funds for local cancer charities was so strongly supported that a chain of unwanted undies stretched for roughly a mile. The collection was sponsored by the Lions at the rate of 20p per bra and in this picture Mike Humphrey helps local air cadets sort out a tangle in the chain. MLNF-0306299
