A charity football match in October 1987 between employees of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company and Sorensons Motors in Hardwick Road, Lynn, gave a £2,000 boost to the Norfolk branch of the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Although the busmen won by 8-2, the real winner was the charity in the match played in front of enthusiastic spectators at the William Burt Centre in West Winch.
Mr Alan Irwin, of Sorensons, who helped organise the match with the help of EC minibus driver Mr Andy Gromoff, said: “It was a great day and we shall challenge them again next year because we want the winner’s trophy back.”
