These students at Lynn’s King Edward School were speaking out in March, 1986, and won recognition for their efforts in the Norfolk finals of the English Speaking Union’s inter-schools competition.

On the left holding the trophy is Jonathan Croose who was judged best speaker in the competition and won the cup for his achievement. Also in the boys team were Jonathan Day and David Norris. The girls’ team of (from left) Emma Whitmarsh-Knight (chairman), Sarah Caink (vote of thanks) and Kathryn Gifford (speaker) came second in the competition and were going to compete in the regional finals.
