MEMORY LANE SCHOOLDAYS: Alien in cast of Gayton First School’s Christmas musical in December 1995

An alien was a surprising addition to the cast of Gayton First School’s Christmas musical in December 1995.

The show, entitled Who Came Down to Earth? was performed in the Methodist Church for an audience of about 100 relatives, friends and villagers.

It involved more than 50 children aged four to eight and was staged by head teacher Mrs Judith Wiles and her staff – Mrs Linda Adams, Mrs Florence Newton and Mrs Adrien Travers; welfare assistant Mrs Carolyn Muff and parents also helped with the costumes.

The play was about an alien who came down to earth and found out about Christmas, which involved a lot of singing, acting, readings – and dressing up.
