Memory Lane Schooldays: Countryside trip and shopping activities

By Chris Hornby

Work on a science topic was taking Burnham Market Primary School pupils out of the classroom and into the countryside in April, 2000.

Class teacher Carolyn Major (right in our picture) had arranged a visit to the Natural Surroundings Wildflower Centre at Letheringsett, near Holt.

The four to six-year-olds had also been growing their own nasturtium plants from seed at home.

In history, the children were starting a topic about shops and shopping and Mrs Major said she planned to take the children out to look at shops in the village as part of the project.

Also pictured with the children was supply teacher Mrs Barbara Rumley.
