When Heacham Primary School was first opened in 1906 it was a “show piece” for Norfolk and had many visitors looking round.
Many reminders of that opening were still to be found in April, 1973, when the Lynn News photographer visited for this “Pupils in the Picture” feature. Trees planted for the opening still surrounded the school.
Mr Frederick Williman, the headmaster, said: “I think that conservationists may like to come and have a look at our 67-year-old trees to see what people did in the past. These trees are the pride of the school and are really quite splendid.”
