All these pupils at Walpole Cross Keys Primary School in February, 1976, were encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities whether they were at the top or the bottom of the school.

Mr Charles Parker, the headmaster, told the Lynn News: “We try to do a bit of everything. We like to cover a broad mixture of old and new ideas.

Mr Parker was assisted by a part-time tutor in looking after the children who had an age range of from four to eleven.

Most of the pupils were from within a radius of two to three miles in rural Marshland.
