Memory Lane Schools: Tilney St Lawrence pupils safer after North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham opens car park, June 2002

• Memory Lane Schools, Friday, June 2:

Getting to school became a lot safer for Tilney St Lawrence pupils when a new staff and visitor car park at the village school was officially opened by North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham in June 2002.

It meant there was more parking space outside for parents picking up and dropping off their children.

Mr Bellingham – pictured here with Year One pupils, together with headteacher Carolyn Howard (back left) and governors’ chairman Len Sharp – also found out how the 81 pupils were learning about road safety and supporting the Tilney Speedwatch campaign.

Mrs Howard thanked farmer Robin Savage for allowing part of a field adjoining the school to be used for a car park at a peppercorn rent.
