Pupils at Hunstanton’s Smithdon High School started their autumn timetable three months early in June 2013.
It was a new initiative after teachers decided to make the most of the last weeks of the summer term by bringing forward work planned for September. In our picture, right, headteacher Jon Goodchild and some of his students check the new Smithdon timetables.
He said the scheme had worked at other schools in the country and added: “The whole idea is to maximise the use of the summer term and to re-energise the school by using these weeks to get started with the new GCSE courses early.”
