Denver Primary School welcomes freelance photographer Alan Miller in March 1998

Our weekly Memory Lane Schooldays feature focuses on a photographer’s visit to a school in March 1998…

A flash of inspiration was given to children at Denver Primary School in March 1998 when freelance photographer Alan Miller gave a talk about his work.

Pupils from the Reception and Year One classes heard how Alan, who worked with the Lynn News, began taking photographs when he was just their age – by chasing his cat around the garden with a box camera in his hand.

A professional photographer for 27 years, Alan took along a selection of photographs including some of the Queen Mother and Sir Alec Guinness, whom the pupils would know as Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars.

Alan joined the pupils while his wife Rita took this photograph.
