All Our Yesterdays: September scenes

September 2010: Protestors against proposed cuts to Lynn Arts Centre are pictured outside West Norfolk Council Offices before a heated debate was held over a controversial plan to move the arts galleries into Lynn’s Town Hall complex in a bid to save £100,000. The meeting was attended by 60 people – some wearing black in protest – and most were pleased when the council decided to postpone any decision for two months.

September 2011: Let’s paint King’s Lynn pink was this rallying cry to women throughout the town. It was in support of Cancer Research UK which was organising fundraising events nationwide to be held in late October. Norfolk Green buses decided to get on board and painted one of their buses pink especially for the event. At the front of our picture, holding two of the posters is bus driver Lucy Barley – who had had breast cancer – with, from left, Anne Warner, Sue Wedge, Nigel Firth (Norfolk Green), Jo Daisley, Elaine Douglass and Sylvia Rands.
