Shining a light on festive events

More news, no ads

Christmas is officially here and after 18 months of unprecedented times, organisers in Norfolk have pulled out all the stops to create a real Christmas wonderland in our region.

Norfolk has an abundance of events over November and December for every age from young to old from couples to families.

With the pandemic over the last 18 months changing everyone’s lives, Christmas seems so much more poignant and important to celebrate with family and friends.

Christmas time is the best time to make memories with the ones that you love and care about.

It isn’t just craft fairs and Christmas fairs that can get you in the festive spirit, although Sandringham has an incredible Christmas fair event happening from today (November 19) until Sunday. There are some unique experiences to be had across the region and, talking of Sandringham, they currently have their Luminate event on until December 19.

Luminate at Sandringham is a light trail like no other. It is in the royal parkland for the second year running and it is bigger and better than last year with marshmallow toasting, mulled wine and a vintage fairground as well as the light trail which takes around 90 minutes to complete. Entry times are 4.30pm to 8.30pm and the trail is suitable for all ages. The path is a little rough but wheelchairs and pushchairs should be fine.

If you have any questions or concerns then speak to Sandringham. All in all, it is a fantastic event and it will take your breath away.

A bit further away from Lynn is Thursford, known for its Christmas events and every year it creates a winter wonderland in the Norfolk countryside. There are two separate events at Thursford for 2021, the Christmas Spectacular (which is just that!) show and the Enchanted Journey of Light, an incredible sight. The latter is more family/child friendly as the show is three hours long.

The Enchanted Journey of Light is running until December 28 and the Christmas Spectacular is on until December 23.

Other Norfolk Christmas events include Santa at Dobbies in Lynn which is running on certain days up until December 24 and they are also doing events for children with special education needs. Church Farm at Stow Bardolph is doing a Father Christmas experience throughout December.

Holkham has a wide range of Christmas events, too, for all ages but these get booked up very fast.

After what has been a testing 18 or so months for us all, we all deserve a bit of Christmas magic and Norfolk has that sorted.
