The first full moon of the year, known as the 'Wolf Moon' was captured by reader Julie Smart from Grimston.
The moon gets its name because it was thought that wolves were heard howling at this time of the year, it was traditionally believed that wolves howled due to hunger in Winter, however we now know that isn't the case.
The moon appears right after the Winter solstice and represents new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness.
