Victoria coming home for ‘Beauty-ful’ debut in King's Lynn

Lynn-born actress Victoria Bush is ‘coming home’ for her first outing as a panto baddie.

Victoria – known to millions as school secretary Sonya Donnegan in BBC 1’s Waterloo Road and also Tina O’Kane in series 3-8 of ITV’s Bad Girls – will play the evil Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty, this year’s panto at the Corn Exchange.

Her other credits include: Mary/Miss Dilber in Scrooge the Musical (national tour) and Sylvia in Stepping Out (Theatre Royal, Lincoln).

She has also appeared on TV’s Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, The All-Star Talent Show and Children in Need.

Sleeping Beauty takes to the Corn Exchange stage from Friday, December 7, until Monday, December 31, and also included in an amazing cast line-up are Ian Marr, Scott Cripps, Charles Dennett and Olivia Arnold.

As Carabosse, you can count on Victoria playing the sort of fairy that no-one wants to mess with. With no invitation to Princess Belle’s christening, she will take her revenge in style – and it will be down to the dashing Prince Valiant and the comedy capers of Dame Nellie Night Nurse and Chester the Jester to save the day!

Making a welcome return are Lynn’s favourite Dame, Ian Marr, this year as Dame Nellie Night Nurse and Scott Cripps as Chester the Jester. This is Ian’s 17th Christmas in panto – eight in Lynn and eight other venues.

His credits include: Pitlochry 2017 season in High Society, The Ruling Class, Mary Rose and People; Mr Kirkby in That Day We Sang (Victoria Wood); Downton Abbey (ITV); Waking the Dead (BBC); and Alan Gregg/The Doctor in Shadowlands (National Tour) to name but a few!

As well as many Lynn pantos, Scott’s West End theatre credits include Billy Elliott; Murdoch in Titanic; Sweeney Todd; Pirates of Penzance; Peter Pan and Doctor Dolittle.

He has also toured with Jesus Christ Superstar; Amos in Whistle Down the Wind; High Society; Willard in Footloose; Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. You can see him on the big screen as an in-mate in Paddington 2 dancing alongside Hugh Grant!

Also making a welcome return is KLFM’s Charles Dennett, AKA Posh Charles. Sleeping Beauty is his third panto in a row! Last year he played the Lord Chamberlain in Jack and the Beanstalk and in 2016 he was the Broker’s Man in Cinderella.

Olivia Arnold, a recent Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduate, joins the cast as Princess Belle, the Sleeping Beauty. Olivia made her panto debut last year as Wendy in Peter Pan. Credits in training include Cinderella’s Mother in Into the Woods; Gymnasia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; Anne in Half a Sixpence and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth.

Hot on the heels of last year’s smash hit, Jack and the Beanstalk, tickets are already selling fast. A spectacular show full of music, fun, laughter, stunning special effects and plenty of surprises along the way is promised!

You can book your tickets now at www.kingslynncornexchange.co.uk or call 01553 764864. But be quick – the early bird offer finishes tomorrow.

The panto is again kindly sponsored by J & K Glass & Glazing and in association with KLFM.
