Woottons industry project wins £50 prize: Memory Lane Schooldays

By Chris Hornby

Industrial-minded juniors at South Wootton School clinched second place in the south-eastern finals of a national competition in June, 1986.

They are pictured with their teacher Mrs Lesley Dent, with their project which marked industry year, having spent a term studying Lynn’s Dornay Foods factory.

Five pupils from the school went down to London with their project to answer questions about their visits to see how potato granules are produced.

Their study had included research, transport, marketing and warehousing, and a visit to a potato farm.

The pupils won themselves £50 which they planned to use to buy circuits and equipment for their science lessons.
