Hundreds of thousands of cigarettes seized in police operation

Police in Lynn say more than 430,000 illegal cigarettes - the equivalent of over 21,000 packs - have been seized during an operation today.

Officers said on social media the haul had been uncovered following an earlier incident in which a van was stopped near the A47 at Wisbech.

A post on the King's Lynn Police Twitter feed said a man had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife, possessing drugs with intent to supply and driving offences.

Further investigations later in the afternoon by the police led to the seizure of the fraudulent cigarettes.
