Nick Sawyer and Julie Clark host car show in Pentney to raise money for Ukraine
A couple who have visited Ukraine four times to deliver supplies to the front line hosted a car show to raise money for the war-torn country.
On Sunday, all sorts of different cars ranging from unusual to classic showed up in support of the event at Pentney Lakes.
Those featured included an orange Lamborghini and an AC Cobra, with 80 cars and ten motorbikes being brought along.
Nick Sawyer and Julie Clark, who organised the event, felt the day “went well, that it had a calming and relaxed atmosphere to it”.
Their goal is to raise money to buy supplies including paracetamol, Calpol, nappies and baby milk for Vinnytsia Regional Children's Clinical Hospital in Ukraine – as well as resources to support the soldiers in the war.
The car show managed to raise more than £2,000, which will all be going towards the war effort.
Nick and Julie wanted to give a “thank you to everybody who was involved”, including the Parkside Bar and Cafe owners Steph and Tony Mallandail, and Bob Walker for supplying a trailer for music acts to use.
Bill Atkins, the owner of Pentney Lakes, was also thanked, as was Vets for Pets for running the dog show.
“It was a memorable day to all be together for a good cause,” Julie added.
The event also consisted of stalls and food, as well as music by DJ Rockin’ Roland and the Big Black Cadillac band.
