North West Norfolk Girlguiding divisions are getting the opportunity to experience new activities

Girlguiding in North West Norfolk is becoming increasingly more popular and the different divisions are getting to explore new opportunities.

Girlguiding is split up different sections depending on age, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers and there are several units covering many areas of Norfolk.

It is a “supportive community” that gives young girls the confidence and opportunities to try new things and be themselves.

Snettisham Brownies have been lucky enough to have Dr. Clive Jonathon Bond from the West Norfolk and King’s Lynn Archaeological Society visit them.

This gave the seven to 10-year-olds a chance to explore the world of archeology while working towards earning their next badge.

They also made the most of the day by finding out some history of the area.

As well as archaeology, Snettisham Brownies enjoyed creative activities and transformed themselves into butterflies by crafting colourful wings and doing some Easter baking.

The volunteer leader Ruby said: "These activities help develop creativity and teamwork, which are essential skills for our Brownies,

"It's great to see them engaged and enthusiastic."

Meanwhile, over in Heacham, the brownies there attended an evening that focused on wellbeing and they were introduced to Tai Chi by Glenn Belton from the West Norfolk Tai Chi group.

This free taster event provided the girls with a lesson in mindfulness as well as physical exercise.

One of the brownies said: "I loved learning the moves, and receiving a certificate made it extra special."

Heacham Guides (ages 10 to 14), have been learning sign language as a part of their guide skills badge and Sandringham has been completing the East Anglia ambulance challenge badge over the past term.

The Guides also took part in a sponsored walk.

The Gayton Rainbows, ages four to seven, have been buzzing with excitement and creativity recently.

A highlight is that they have been working towards their communication badge and they have the opportunity to sign the promise which filled all those involved with pride.

Learning to sign the promise was one of the exercises in communication and it brought a new dynamic to how the girls understand and value guiding.

With each hand motion, the young members discover the art of non-verbal communication just like the Heacham Guides.

Gayton Raibows also celebrated International Women’s Day by modelling and making inventions from their own recycling.

Their leader Immy said: “It was great to see all their ideas coming to life.”
