A-Level Results Day 2019: Downham Market Academy sixth form
Students at Downham Market Academy’s sixth form have achieved the centre’s “best ever” A-Level results.
Head of sixth form Clare Hargraves said more than two in five students had achieved high grades.
She said: “They’ve done well this year, they’re the best ever results with over 40 per cent of students achieving a top grade. They have all worked exceptionally hard and they should be really proud of their results.”
One student who was celebrating after receiving his grades yesterday was Tom Hartwell, who got two As in Physics and Maths, and a B in Chemistry.
He is “very excited” to begin his Masters in Theoretical Physics at Leeds University.
Tom said: “I probably overworked myself, my last exam was the hardest and I had eight to 10 revision days.
“I was shattered but the hard work paid off – my mum is a crier so I left her at home.”
It was a case of triple A for Dannielle Chivers who achieved the grade in Biology, Sociology and Geography. She will be studying Geography and Natural Hazards at Coventry University.
“I did a lot of studying – probably too much studying. It’s important to balance it with your life,” Danielle added.
Kamile Jekucionyte will be studying Forensic Psychology at the University of Lincoln after receiving her A-Level results yesterday.
She got an A and two Bs in Psychology, Sociology and Business Studies.
“If I’m being honest I didn’t do enough studying but I’m still pleased with my results, I got what I needed,” Kamile said. “I thought I wasn’t nervous until I got here and my legs started to feel wobbly.”
Ellie Briggs Walsh will also be studying at the University of Lincoln – her course will be in Health and Social Care after getting distinctions in the A-Level subject and for her extended project.
