A-Level Results Day 2024: Improvement from last year at Fakenham Sixth Form

Relief was the main feeling for the Year 13s at one sixth form this morning as A-Level results showed an improvement on previous years.

Laura Marshall-Smith, head of sixth form at Fakenham Sixth Form, said she is “really proud” of her students and staff for achieving fantastic results, which she confirmed were better than years gone by.

“The progress the sixth form has made is unrecognisable.

“We are going onto bigger and better things each year which is fantastic.”

One student, Jack West, opened his envelope to four A*s in Maths, Chemistry, Computer Science and Physics. He is now heading to the University of Warwick to study.

“I’m satisfied with my results and happy that I could get into my university,” he said.

Jayden Lake was also really pleased with his results, achieving an A* in Maths, AA in Chemistry and Biology and a C in Geography.

He will be going to Lancaster University to study Biochem in September.

Mrs Marshall-Smith added: “I just feel so honoured to be head of sixth form here, it’s a real joy, and seeing it grow is really humbling.”

One student, Trinity Barton-Vazquez, was shedding tears of joy when she opened her results, achieving an A in Spanish, B in Film Studies, B in EPQ and C in English.

“I’m very very happy, I’m going to be going to UEA for Philosophy and Politics,” she said.

“Hard work, perseverance and taking it one step at a time really helped me.

“Although I’m not really doing it right now, you have to keep calm.”

Other notable students included Oliver McCarthy who achieved AAA in Business, English Literature and Film Studies as well as Olivia Coslett, who is planning to head to Lincoln after she completes a sports apprenticeship in Norwich.

“It was well worth the wait,” said Olivia, who attended Alderman Peel School in Wells for her GCSEs.

“Parents and students are really happy and it’s nice to be able to be proud of that.”
