As the debate about what to do to tackle climate change continues at the COP26 summit, children in West Norfolk have demonstrated their demand for action.

Hundreds of pupils from schools across the borough have been working with the King’s Lynn Klimate Concern group on a collection of messages to be taken to the conference this weekend.

The borough’s deputy mayor, Lesley Bambridge, was among the visitors to a display of the messages at Lynn’s Town Hall on Saturday, on the eve of the summit’s opening.

Sarah Glenn of KLimate Concern said: “We were frankly overwhelmed by the children’s work: it’s powerful, emotive and creative and we were really keen to display it.

“We’re really pleased that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were so supportive and welcoming, which is recognition of the importance of the issue and the work of the children.”

Borough Mayor Harry Humphrey said: “Climate change is such a crucial issue and in West Norfolk we are committed to doing what we can to tackle it.
