‘A really good day’ for Docking as revamped pavilion is officially opened
It was a “really good day for the village” as a grand opening of a revamped pavilion brought the community of Docking together.
The pavilion will be used by groups in the village and surrounding areas and was transformed this summer thanks to funding provided by West Norfolk Council.
A grand opening took place on Sunday where deputy leader of the council Cllr Simon Ring cut the ribbon to unveil the pavilion, which has a new kitchen, toilets and changing rooms as well as a ramp ensuring it is accessible to wheelchair users.
The improvements to the facilities were made thanks to £78,000 of Section 106 grant funding provided by West Norfolk Council, which also meant its tennis courts could be revamped.
Around 200 people came to the event which also saw the female shanty singer group The Castaways perform.
Chairman of the Docking Playing Field Committee David Meek said that he was “really pleased” with how well attended the opening was.
“It has really taken off, everyone was impressed with what they have seen,” David said.
A raffle also took place which meant that two lucky winners who live in the village got to have a ride in a helicopter on the day.
David added: “It was a really good day for the village, it got the community together.”
The Docking Playing Field Committee has thanked West Norfolk Council and the Norfolk Community Foundation for their help.
