Sandringham Royal Estate Run Sandringham sees runners in their hundreds for fun run in the sun
The Run Sandringham event was well attended on Sunday with athletes gathering for a number of events on Father’s Day.
The weather was fine, with more than 1,500 people taking part in the races, organised by Good Running Events and marshalled by 60 volunteers on the course.
Phil Davies, marshall co-ordinator said: “The volunteers were all brilliant covering the on-course marshalling.
“They helped with registration, five water stations, which was fortunate as it was really hot weather, and handed out medals to the finishers.
“It was a long session for them, turning up at 7.30am until 1.30pm, and signposting around 13 miles of Sandringham woodlands is a massive undertaking.
“It was all very smooth and well organised.”
The event saw runners start the 5k route at 9am, followed by the half marathon at 10am and participants completed the community mile at 1pm.
Aaron Murrell, director of Good Running Events, said: “The event was a fantastic success and over 1,500 runners took part across the three distances.
“It was a warm day and we adapted the event to ensure that there was extra water stations for everyone that took part.
“We are looking forward to our next running events at Sandringham later this year with Run Sandringham 24 in August and Run Sandringham 10K in September.”
Sam Greenwood was cheered on for Father’s Day by Elena, 6, and Georgia, 4, with signs saying Go Daddy and Happy Father’s Day.
The results for the first three finishers in the half-marathon were Nathan Brown (1 hour 16), Sam Matchette (1 hour 19) and John Raspin (1 hour 21)
