Slimming World looks to recruit consultants for groups in King's Lynn, Gayton and Snettisham

Opportunities to earn money while helping people in the community develop healthier lifestyles are being offered by a slimming organisation aiming to recruit more consultants in West Norfolk.

Since August, Slimming World reopened its 21 groups in the area with more than 387 new members while more than 70 per cent of their existing members returned to their groups after the 14-week lockdown.

Jo Jackson, local team developer in West Norfolk, said: "Despite the current business climate, Slimming World is growing, and we currently have vacancies on the team for new consultants in Lynn for Saturday mornings and Monday evenings, in Gayton for Thursday mornings and evenings and in Snettisham for Friday mornings."

Jo has been a Slimming World franchisee for over six years and opened her group in Hunstanton with more than 67 new members in the first week. Less than four weeks later she had more than 100 members each week and a year later opened a morning group in Hunstanton too.

Jo recently became a local team developer and now works alongside and supports nine other consultants in the team covering West Norfolk.

Jo said: "Becoming a consultant really was the best decision I ever made, my job satisfaction really is number one, helping other people change their lives as I have my own. There is nothing quite like it.’

Last year Slimming World celebrated its golden anniversary of being the UK’s leading weight loss organisation and one of the ways it marked its milestone was to have a double decker 'golden bus' travelling the UK where cooking demonstrations took place.

Caryl Richards, managing director of Slimming World, said: "In the current economic climate, people may be wary about starting up a business, which is why it is so important to choose an option that has a strong structure and excellent training and can be set up in your own area.

"It's also vital to make sure there’s room for growth in the business area you’re working in. The increasing need to tackle obesity and the need for support for the whole family to adopt healthier lifestyles offers huge opportunities for Slimming World consultants based in their local communities."

Consultants are all former or current members of Slimming World. The role is part time, with the potential to earn between £100 and £400 a week for working 10 to 15 flexible hours.

Jo said: "Purchasing a franchise gave me control and I really enjoy being my own boss. What you put in is what you get out and this is a reflection of not only the number of people you can help, but also in the financial return."

"It's the best job in the world and one that is hugely rewarding."
