Former West Norfolk mayor Paul Bland visited South Wootton Junior School to open new climbing wall

Pupils had a special visitor attend to open the new additions to their school.

At the beginning of the month, former West Norfolk mayor Paul Bland visited South Wootton Junior School to open its new climbing wall and ActivAll boards.

These were bought for the school using Community Infrastructure Levy funding from West Norfolk Council.

A spokesperson for the school said: “A huge thanks to Anita Howard, who researched the equipment, made applications to the borough and parish councils, and liaised with contractors to get the equipment installed.

“The children have really enjoyed playing on the new equipment and are very grateful for all the hard work that went into acquiring it for us. Similar equipment has also been provided to North Wootton Academy.”

In what was one of his final mayoral engagements, Cllr Bland was met on the day by members of the school council - and after the grand opening, spent time talking to the Year 6 children who had lots of questions for him.
