A West Norfolk company Goodman Bros comes to the rescue of face mask misery across the globe
A West Norfolk company has enjoyed an unprecedented rise in business thanks to problems caused by the wearing of face masks.
Jewellers across the world are reporting a significant increase in customers who are replacing lost earrings during the coronavirus pandemic. Those numbers have continued to rise since a number of countries have come out of lockdown and enforced the wearing of face masks in certain locations.
Jewellery service brand company Goodman Bros are worldwide distributors of Lox secure earring backs and distribute to 14 countries. But they’ve now had enquiries from another eight on top of a spike in distribution in England as a result of Covid-19 regulations.
Said Philip Goodman, a director of the Terrington St Clement-based family-run firm: “It has become apparent that an unwelcome side-effect of wearing a face mask is that they can catch and pull the back off your earring.
“Since we have been distributors of Lox, millions of pairs have been sold worldwide, and we expect the demand to increase significantly in the coming months. In fact, coming out of lockdown we have seen sales leap by nearly 800 per cent. The demand worldwide is unprecedented in the history of selling the product.”
Lox, also sold online, are available in more than 1,500 jewellers including national chains F-Hinds and Beaverbrooks. Goodman Bros took orders from another 50 independent jewellers during August alone.
“Lost earring backs and earrings are an age-old problem. Ask any earring wearers and the majority will tell you that they have lost an earring,” added Mr Goodman, whose fellow directors are his father David and his brother-in-law Gavin Merrison.
“It appears face masks have greatly increased this problem. Lox can solve this as the earring backs secure earrings far more effectively than traditional earring backs. Customers love the way they lock their earrings in place and how they provide a really affordable solution to wearing cherished earrings without fear of losing them.”
Founded in 2014, Goodman Bros are also exclusive distributors of jewellery cleaning product Connoisseurs and Inverness, a safe and gentle piercing system.
