A47 at Wendling between Swaffham and Dereham closed after lorry fire




A main road was closed in both directions for more than two hours after a lorry caught fire.

Norfolk fire services were called to the A47 at Wendling, between Swaffham and Dereham, last night at 6.15pm after receiving reports of the HGV blaze.

Three appliances from Watton, Dereham and Earlham attended, using main and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

Police were also called at 6.19pm to assist fire crews, helping to put road closures in place.

Traffic in both directions was affected, but the incident was cleared and the road reopened by around 8.45pm.

The fire service’s stop message was received at 7.04pm.
