Excitement for families in Pott Row as brand new play area officially opened by West Norfolk deputy mayor Andy Bullen
Youngsters in Pott Row can now enjoy the sunshine in the summer holidays at a brand new play area which was officially opened at the weekend.
The play area features a number of pieces of new equipment for children to enjoy - including a zipwire.
It is thanks to a total of £85,000 worth of donations that the new facility - located in the Crossroads Recreational area in the village - has been able to open.
And officials were delighted when the sun came out for the play area’s grand opening on Saturday afternoon.
Deputy mayor of West Norfolk Andy Bullen came to officially declare it open, joined by committee members of the Hudson Fen Leisure Limited, a registered charity which championed the opening of the new park.
Committee member Mary Roper said: “It was absolutely spectacular.
“The original play area was put up in 2007, over the years we have added little bits to it but it got to the stage where it needed a complete refurbishment.
“It is very well used, that is why the parish council were so happy to donate to it.”
Donations for the new play area were made by the Grimston Fen and Allotment Trust, Grimston Parish Council, Michael de Whalley’s council community grant, CIL funding from West Norfolk Council, Kate Stebbings, Grimston Schools Trust, Congham Parish Council, Roydon Parish Council and The Solar Shed.
The play area will also be used for community events, including a community picnic held by Fen Fest every May.
