Fakenham and District Light Operatic Society’s (FADLOS) pantomime Rapunzel was funny, cheerful and enchanting
Colourful costumes, enchanting sets and powerful vocals from all - this town’s theatre group put on a panto worth watching.
The Fakenham And District Light Operatic Society’s (FADLOS) performance of Rapunzel certainly lived up to the group’s claims of being ‘Hair-larious’ on Tuesday’s opening night.
Despite a quiet start, the audience soon warmed up to the characters and were interacting without prompts which I think speaks to the level of acting that was being delivered.
It was clear that some crowd favourites were in the mix including hairdresser Dame Trixie, played by Ben Francis, and Luke Morgan as the comedic Frankie Valet.
The pair of them were evidently experienced on stage as their ability to improvise when things didn’t quite work out was both impeccable and entertaining.
Other notable characters included Witch Gothel, played by Sarah Chessie, who was able to contort her voice wonderfully to sound evil and creepy, as well as the party animal Prince Fredrick, played by Robert Bond - it was nice to see a male lead who can actually sing!
However, none could outshine Rapunzel herself as Dana Wright’s voice captured everyone in the room during her solo performance of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman.
All-in-all co-directors Lee Gibbons and Max Ward should be insanely proud of what they have managed to put together and the cast should too.
The show is running every evening at the Fakenham Community Centre until Saturday with a matinee show at 2.30pm.
Tickets can be purchased here or by visiting the box office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Bailey, Bird and Warren Estate Agents on Bridge Street.
