A food bank has received a boost following the generosity of front-line ambulance staff in West Norfolk.

Two boxes stuffed with non-perishable items were presented to staff from the Purfleet Trust-run food bank in Lynn to help those less fortunate during the Christmas and New Year period.

The food was donated at Lynn ambulance station by East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) staff in West Norfolk.

Terry Hicks, West Norfolk senior locality manager for EEAST, who presented the food with paramedic Steve Rudd, said it was the first time staff had donated to the food bank in St Ann’s Fort, Lynn.

However, gifts were already building up for another donation to the food bank in the new year.

He said: “It is for the people of King’s Lynn and we know that it is going to vulnerable people that need it during the festive season.

“It gives the ambulance staff a little bit of pride by putting something back into the community,” he said.
