Lincolnshire Police launch appeal after war memorial at St Matthew’s Church in Sutton Bridge vandalised





A church’s war memorial has been vandalised, prompting police to appeal for information.

Lincolnshire Police received reports last Thursday of damage to two metal statues at St Matthew’s Church in Sutton Bridge.

Each of the soldiers, which stand on either side of a ‘Lest We Forget’ sign, appeared to be bent out of shape with parts -including their heads - missing.

The incident is believed to have taken place overnight between Tuesday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 18.

As of yet, no arrests have been made but officers are keen for anyone with information regarding who is responsible to come forward and contact the force control room on 101, quoting incident number 132.
