West Norfolk libraries including King’s Lynn, Downham and Hunstanton are looking for people to help lead support groups

New volunteers are wanted to help lead vital groups and support others.

As part of the Know Your Neighbourhood Project, funded by the Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DMCS) and aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation, libraries in West and East Norfolk are looking for new volunteers.

It is hoped they will be able to help lead groups to support people at three key stages in their lives, where they might feel particularly lonely or isolated:

Lynn’s library is among those included in the project
Lynn’s library is among those included in the project

- When they become a parent or carer by offering stay and play sessions.

- When they experience unemployment or lose a job by offering job clubs.

- When they lose a loved one by offering bereavement cafés.

The libraries covered in this project are in Dersingham, Downham, Gaywood, Hunstanton, and Lynn.

An informal drop-in event is taking place on Wednesday, January 24 from 10am-6.30pm at Gaywood Library.

People are invited to go along to the drop-in event for a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit, where they can chat with volunteer co-ordinators about volunteering for the project or simply learn a little more about it.
