Van driver arrested following collision at Necton

A motorist was arrested following one of three separate collisions in a village near Swaffham, police said today.

Drivers were urged to take care following the string of incidents at Necton on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have now confirmed that a van driver was arrested following the first of the crashes, which happened on Norwich Road at around 1.45pm.

The incident involved a van and a Citroen car and the road was closed for around three hours.

Emergency crews were then called to a collision between a Ford Fiesta and a Nissan Qashqai on the A47 at around 3.10pm.

The Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said units from Lynn, Fakenham and Dereham had worked to release occupants from the wreckage and make the area safe.

Police said no-one was seriously hurt, though the road was closed at Oore Lane and Fifers Corner. A separate crash was also reported nearby.
