Downham Market business maintains Upwell War memorial




The CGM Group has volunteered to maintain Upwell village war memorial garden.

Works, which are ongoing, involved applying a fertiliser and herbicide alongside a full autumn renovation of the lawn consisting of scarification, aeration and an overseed.

Dr Paul Williams, chairman of the memorial said: “As a community we are extremely grateful to CGM for helping us to maintain our village war memorial to commemorate the service of our military personnel.”

Chris Fisher, operations manager added: “At CGM we regularly undertake works in our local community, however this is a project close to my heart as I come from a military background.

"Current works are improving the appearance of the memorial ready for Remembrance Sunday next month. The lawn care will continue into next year.”

Downham's CGM Group recently won at the prestigious BALI 2021 National Landscape Awards in the grounds maintenance category for a residential contracts in Cambridgeshire.
