New challenges embraced by award-winning slimming consultant in West Norfolk

By Lynn News Reporter

Slimming consultant Jo Jackson is looking to help even more people lose weight having just completed training to become team developer for the Lynn, Sutton Bridge and coastal area.

Since starting out as a Slimming World consultant five years ago with one group in Heacham, Jo has opened two more and has collected an armful of awards along the way.

Her first group was at Heacham, which she had to move to Hunstanton Community Centre as 97 new members enrolled that month.

By June 2015 she decided to open a morning group as her second group in Hunstanton at the Town Hall.

Last year in August she started looking after a group that had moved to Lynn Football Club without a permanent consultant and took it on as her own group in January of this year.

She said: "I applied for the team developer role in the April as I wanted to help and support our team of local consultants to ensure we are able to deliver the love, care, kindness and heartfelt understanding that we know our members need.

"I have seen how losing weight with Slimming World's Food Optimising combined with Body Magic truly changes lives.

"Members have lost weight so they are no longer needing medication for diabetes, others have reduced their risk of heart attacks, and some have gone on to achieve their dreams of having a family through achieving the weight criteria for IVF, or in some cases conceive naturally as a direct result of losing weight."

This year Jo was one of only three consultants nationally to achieve a diamond award for member retention, which followed on from three gold awards for the same achievement.

Becoming team developer will give her the opportunity to open more groups and help change people's lives. The latest figures from Public Health England show 70 per cent of adults in Lynn and West Norfolk are carrying excess weight.
