A popular town bakery has organised a new monthly market to take place, designed to celebrate “brilliant creators” in West Norfolk.

Mabel Makers Market is the brainchild of Mabel Bakery in Downham, located on the town square.

The new market has been set up with the aim of celebrating “creativity, community, and the brilliant makers” of West Norfolk.

More than 30 stalls will be trading on the day, along with live music and seating to enjoy food and drink.

The first market will be taking place on Sunday, June 22, from 10am to 3pm.

Independent traders, food producers, artists and crafters will be trading in the town. Visitors can expect everything from handmade candles and local ceramics to fresh bakes, preserves, street food and more.

“We wanted to create a different kind of market—one that supports small, local businesses and brings something new to the square,” Lucy Peacock, co-founder of Mabel Bakery and organiser of the market, said.

“This is our first one, and we’re so excited by the response already. It’s been built with love by volunteers and local people who really care about making Downham more vibrant.”

The Mabel Makers Market is run by volunteers and hopes to become a regular fixture in Downham’s calendar.

More markets are set to take place on July 27 and August 24.
