Have your say

Four more acts will take to the stage for Heat Six of this year’s Battle Of The Bands

And this Good Friday musical treat will be on Twisted Melon’s home turf, the village of Watlington, with the Sports & Social Club hosting the event. starting at 7.30pm.

Triston Finnis of Twisted Melon writes: “Two of last year’s finalists Phoenix Calling and Common Youth were part of the Watlington Sports & Social Club’s 2014 heat so this year’s act have a lot to live up to.”

Here, Triston gives his low-down on the four hopefuls:

The Asset is 24-year-old singer/songwriter Andy Smith.

The Cambridgeshire solo act was born in Scotland and still holds a slight Scottish twang in his vocal. Although all his material is original it sounds instantly recognisable with his unique upbeat foot tapping sound.

Thomas is a local singer/songwriter who is making waves around Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. As well as his own material, Thomas covers the likes of Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Oasis, The Beatles and The Fratellis.

His innovative use of guitar and loop pedal gives this solo act an incredible full and current sound.

This singer/songwriter project was formed by Tim Dennis in mid-2014, heavily influenced from artists such as Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, Tom DeLonge of Angels And Airwaves and Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem just to name a few. The tracks include an acoustic pop punk feel while being quite dark in some parts. Songs you can really sing along to and think about life and your existence on not only this planet but the universe itself.

The band were born in 2013 in North Norfolk’s rural outback. Morganway were formed by twin brothers Callum and Kieran Morgan, with the blending of vocals of Callum and Yve Mary B is the heart of the band’s melodic sound.

Think a modern fresh and current Fleetwood Mac and you won’t be a million miles away from this exciting act. The band are Callum Morgan (guitar and vocal), Yve Mary B (vocal), Kieran Morgan (guitar) and Matt Brocklehurst (keyboard).
