Benefits reform hits multiple sclerosis sufferers’ income
Multiple sclerosis sufferers in West Norfolk are likely to have lost part of their mobility benefit under the new system, data reveals.
In February 2013, before the transition to Personal Independence Payment (PIP), which takes the highest mobility rate away from people who can walk more than 20 metres. There were 246 Disability Living Allowance claimants with MS in the borough.
Of those, 235 were on the highest mobility payment, 96 per cent of the group.
