Blues band When Rivers Meet, who have member from Downham Market, reach number nine in UK Top 10 Charts




A man who grew up in Downham, and started his music career there, has landed in the top 10 UK Charts alongside his wife.

Aaron Bond, who grew up in the town and has performed there, launched his third studio album along with his wife Grace.

They formed the Blues duo ‘When Rivers Meet’ and are now based in Essex. Aaron said that making it into the top 10 “meant the world.”

They stand at number nine in the charts with their album ‘Aces are High’, sitting between Pink Floyd and the Weeknd.

As well as having the achievement of making it in the top 10, Aaron and Grace are the first independent UK blues act to have a top 10 album in the official UK album chart.

Aaron, who is the band’s guitarist, said: "Having a Top 10 album means the world to us.

“We can’t wait to perform the new songs when we tour the UK in April and May 2024.”

Grace is When Rivers Meet’s violin player, vocalist and also plays mandolin. She added: “We are delighted with the support that we have had from our dedicated fans.”

They are planning to take their latest album on the road in 2024 when they perform eight concerts in the UK from April 27 until May 11. Tickets are available to buy from Ticket Master.

Grace said: “Aaron and I can’t wait to get back on the road in 2024 to tour the Aces Are High album.

“The new songs are powerful and intense, they represent where we are right now as both writers and performers.

“It’s an exciting journey and we look forward to sharing the ride with our dedicated fans.”

When Rivers Meet, who officially formed in 2019, aim to blend rock, blues, Americana and folk music into their work.

When Rivers Meet were the first band to win four awards at the UK Blues Awards 2021 and another three awards in 2022, including Blues Band of The Year on both occasions.

In 2023, they won Blues Band of The Year, making them the only band to win this category three years in a row, and the only band to be inducted into the UK Blues Awards Hall of Fame for this category.
