Brancaster pupils take to their scooters for Norfolk Hospice

Pupils at Brancaster Primary School were told all about the vital work of Tapping House, the Norfolk Hospice at Hillington last week by community fundraising manager, Lindsey Atkin.

She was visiting the school to watch all the school’s pupils take part in a sponsored scoot around the school premises to raise money for the hospice. The event was the brainchild of pupil Eden Wright, one of the four members of the school council who thought of the idea with the help of her sister Tia.

The event had a double purpose for it was also part of the schools’ Keep Fit and Healthy programme.

Lindsay Atkin said they needed to raise over £2 million a year to fund the work of the hospice which provides palliative care and support for patients and their families and were grateful to the many businesses, groups and individuals who so generously worked hard to help finance Tapping House’s important work.

“We only get 35 per cent of our money from the government. The rest comes from the community,” she said, adding that it was nice the see the next generation supporting the vital work of the hospice.
