Brave Jack was told he would "never walk or talk"
Emma and Mike Hampton, from Lynn have set up a fundraiser to provide their little boy Jack, with much needed walking therapy not available on the NHS.
Jack was born prematurely and has stage 4 cerebal palsy, and in his short life has endured multiple hospital visits, seizures and proclamation from doctors that he would never walk or talk.
Brave Jack has defied expectations and now “talks beautifully” according to Mum Emma, who continues to be amazed by her son’s progress.
Emma said: “We were as shocked as anyone by what he’s done, it makes you disheartened when you are told your son won’t walk or talk, but now, after seeing how well he’s come along I’m totally convinced he will be walking by next year with the help of this therapy.
“My husband takes him swimming every week to build up his muscle strength and he’s been walking with stents provided by the NHS.
“We’ve seen a lot of cases where children with the same condition have proven doctors wrong, especially in America- it can happen.”
The Hamptons need to raise around £5,000 for the 2-week intensive private therapy Jack needs, due to lack of funding for such a facility on the NHS, they have a lot of support from friends and family already and have managed to raise an impressive £600 in a short amount of time.
The therapy will include a detailed assessment of Jack’s condition by a lead clinician followed by the therapy, which includes; physiotherapy, occupational and speech and language.
The desired outcome of the therapy can result in Jack gaining extra skills and optimise his everyday function and minimise the secondary deformity common in those who suffer from cerebral palsy.
