A woman has admitted falsely claiming she had been raped and burgled during a raid on her home.

Wendy Willson, 61, of Spenser Road, Gaywood, pleaded guilty to charges of perverting the course of justice and fraud during a hearing at Norwich Crown Court today. She will be sentenced next month.

The case relates to an incident in December 2013 in which Willson claimed she had been left unconscious after being raped during a burglary at her home.

However, following several months of investigations, Willson was herself arrested in April 2014 on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and fraud in relation to an attempt to claim more than £6,000 from her insurers.

Willson pleaded guilty to both charges ahead of the scheduled start of her trial today.

She will be sentenced on March 8.
