La Leche League breastfeeding group to open in Marshland St James to support parents
A new breastfeeding support group is set to open in West Norfolk which offers mothers, parents and families support.
The group has been set up by Emily Lunny, a voluntary breastfeeding counsellor and leader from worldwide breastfeeding organisation La Leche League.
The services offered are free of charge and the group will be meeting in Marshland St James once a month.
Emily said: “This is really exciting as there is very limited breastfeed support in this area."
The group will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month at Marshland Hall on Smeeth Lane from 10-11.30am.
Emily added: “La Leche League is an international organisation with groups in 70 countries and all continents except Antarctica.”
The group of trained breastfeeding counsellors have all nursed their own babies and work as volunteers to provide a network of support ranging from phone calls to help through social media platforms which build on from the face-to-face groups.
Their aim is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding.
The first group will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at Marshland Hall.
