Art exhibition takes place at Methodist Church in Downham Market

An opening of an art exhibition took place, featuring some 108 pictures of artwork by 17 artists.

It was attended by the mayor of Downham and is organised by Downham Art Circle.

The showcase, at the Methodist Church on Paradise Road, is open daily, 10am-4pm, until Saturday.

Linda Truscott, an artist and one of the organisers, said: “The opening on Monday went very well. It was lovely.

“We are an art circle who meet in Downham and we hold the exhibition during festival week.”

This year the event also featured paintings by school children from Nelson Academy.

Mrs Truscott said: “Pupils brought their paintings and were given prizes.

“People can pop in and there is a canteen that does lunch or tea and a bun.

“Most of the art is for sale and our next event will be in November.”
