Review of the Old Store in Snettisham: A brunch hotspot nestled in quiet village serves amazing coffee and tasty treats
After seeing a few people I follow on Instagram visit the Old Store in Snettisham for brunch, I was really keen to pay a visit to the micro-bakery and coffee shop.
Frothy coffees and a variety of breakfast options are what enticed me and my parents to tuck into a Sunday brunch- and we weren’t left disappointed.
On arrival, we could tell it was a popular spot for both eating in and takeaways. We were seated fairly quickly by a friendly member of staff – who informed us that everything is baked in-store, including their sourdough bread.
Fresh pastries and baked goods were on display which looked divine, and we were seated by the window overlooking the picturesque village.
We started with drinks - there were lots of options for coffee lovers but also a variety of fresh fruit juices.
I went for a dirty chai latte (a chai latte with a shot of coffee) with oat milk (£3.80) which was creamy and simply delicious.
My mum had a cappuccino (£3.40) which she enjoyed so much that she had another one later on. My dad went for a pot of tea (£2.90).
We were treated to plenty of options for a brunch, but the old store also had a number of lunch options for people visiting later in the day.
I went for the veggie s’muffin (£8.50) which consisted of an English muffin with a mushroom, fried egg and cheese.
Mum decided to have the traditional full English (£15) which consisted of two fried eggs, a sausage, a rash of bacon, black pudding, baked beans, a portobello mushroom, a grilled tomato, a duck fat hash brown and buttered sourdough toast.
Dad was feeling extra hungry and decided to get the larger version of the breakfast (£20) which doubled up on sausage, bacon, hash browns, mushroom, tomato and toast.
We concluded that all of our food was beautifully cooked and well presented. I was expecting a little bit more to come with my muffin, but it still filled me up and I did polish off one of Dad’s hash browns he couldn’t manage.
This is significantly more than we would normally pay for a cooked breakfast. However, we felt it really felt like an upgrade to a normal fry-up, and I’ve never tasted a hash brown so crispy and delicious.
On our way out, we picked up a couple of pastries to take home with us to enjoy later that evening, although I’m surprised we had the room!
We plan on making a return soon and I think it would be a great place to take friends and family visiting our beautiful part of the world as a special treat before heading to the coast.
