Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with a packed programme of special events.
The independent retail site, beside the A!49 coast road, will be hosting exhibitions, an outdoor theatre performance and a pop-up cinema event in the summer.
On Sunday, February 28, Deepdale Cafe is celebrating St Bunter’s Day with all kinds of cakes and buns on offer. It will also be marking British Pie Week, from Monday, March 7, serving an assortment of savoury and sweet options. The cafe is also hosting a seafood and asparagus month throughout April.
Deepdale Spring Market will see more than 30 artisans and producers in a large marquee, beach hut pop-up shops and outside stalls over the Easter weekend, from Friday, March 25, to Monday, March 28.
From Friday, March 25, for two weeks The Hare and Hen shop and gallery will be staging an exhibition of Alfie Carpenter paintings and on Saturday, June 18, there will be an open-air performance of Gulliver’s Travels, by The Pantaloons. More outdoor theatre is being planned for August.
From Friday, July 8, to Sunday, July 10, Dalegate is working with Picturehouse Cinemas for a weekend of outdoors cinema in The Orchard. The programme has yet to be announced.
Regular events such as the cafe’s OAP Wednesdays, Pasta Thursdays and Fishy Fridays will continue throughout the year and the One Stop Nature Shop will be running beginners’ guided wildlife walks from May to September. The market will also be staging its Christmas Market in December, which has become a major event on the calendar attracting thousands of visitors.
Said Jason Borthwick, of Dalegate Market: “The programme is far from complete yet and new events are being added all the time, but with so much already confirmed, it’s going to be an exciting year at Dalegate and a great way to celebrate being ten years old.”
