Lynx bus service unable to serve Flitcham or Hillington due to Anglian Water repair works

A bus service is being forced to divert from its route due to ongoing work to fix a water main.

The Lynx service which operates in West Norfolk cannot serve the villages of Flitcham or Hillington until Friday because Anglian Water maintenance staff have closed off the B1153 between them.

This has left number 33 buses unable to pick up passengers there since the closure was put in place yesterday.

Lynx bosses asked for peak-time journeys to be allowed to travel through the roadworks, but this request was denied.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any traffic disruption on the B1153 near Flitcham today.

“We’ve needed to close the road to all vehicles other than the emergency service vehicles in order to keep our teams and the public safe while we carry out emergency repair work on a burst main in the area.

“Our teams are working to complete the job and reopen the road as quickly as they possibly can. We’re grateful to customers and road users for their patience while we carry out this essential work.”

The nearest alternative stops for Flitcham and Hillington residents during this closure will be at Great Bircham.
