Hunstanton’s award-winning The Norfolk Deli has just launched a new service to provide luxury picnics.

The business, which this year was named as Small Growing Business of the Year in the Mayor’s Awards for Business, is offering to pack up tasty food so people can spend more of their time enjoying their day out.

Said Mark Kacary, who runs the business with his wife, Rosie: “Having a picnic should be a fun occasion and not involve a dash to the nearest supermarket to fill baskets full of precooked cocktail sausages and pork pies and mini Scotch eggs.

“We have a wonderful range of takeaway products which people can pack up and take with them, including 28 different sandwich combinations, cakes, pies and sausage rolls – but we wanted to offer more than that. Imagine fine dining on the beach or in the countryside.”

Suggestions for a Norfolk Deli style picnic include a platter of charcuterie, folled by poached salmon, with a watercress and orange blossom salad followed by Norfolk strawberries and rosewater and pistachio meringue, washed down with a bottle of Norfolk white or rose wine.

Picnics are packed into biodegradable picnic boxes with everything needed for the dining out experience.

Norfolk Deli picnics can be ordered in person, on the phone or online www.norfolk-deli.co.uk/picnics

Said Mark: “Ordering online couldn’t be easier. All dishes have been created and priced for two to share – people can just pick the items they want.

“If people want larger quantities then they just need to specify the number of dishes and the date and time they wish to collect. All we ask is that we have approximately 24 hours’ notice to ensure that we have everything that is requested.

“We’ve already been asked to provide picnics for one or two events at places such as Holkham Hall. It looks like it’s going to be a very busy summer for us.”

Mark and Rosie opened their business in January 2014 and aim to provide top quality food and wines sourced in Norfolk.
