A fostering agency which covers Norfolk and part of Suffolk has been awarded the prestigious Investors in the People Gold Award.
Graeme Duncombe, who lives in Hunstanton, is co-owner and director of Anglia Fostering Agency, along with business partner, Nigel Pickering.
They set up the business six years ago to look after the most vulnerable children in society having met while they were both working as managers for Norfolk Fostering Services.
Said Graeme: “ We are very proud to receive this award and it underlines all that we are about. We look after our staff and foster carers and we always ensure that the children come first.
“Gaining this award is a demonstration of the agency’s dynamic and caring approach to leadership and the support provided to all staff and foster carers.”
AFA has 17 members of staff, of which 13 are qualified and experienced social workers, and other roles include administration. The agency operates from its base in Norwich.
The Investors in the People Award was granted following an intense inspection of the agency which included examination of policies, questionnaires and interviews with foster carers, directors, management and staff.
Now Graeme and Nigel are determined to build on the success and to lead on improvement and innovation.
This year AFA became only one of five independent agencies in the country to be awarded all seven Leading Improvements for Looked After Children (LILAC) standards. AFA’s latest Ofsted inspection rated the agency as good with outstanding outcomes for children and young people.
