A Downham opticians is supporting a new minor eye service which will save patients trips to hospital.

Spectacular Opticians at Maltings Mill has teamed up with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group to offer this free NHS service.

People suffering with red, dry, irritated or inflamed eyes will be able to use the service.

It also helps those with ingrown lashes or those suffering from flashers or ‘floaters’.

Martin Gibbs, an opthalmologist from Spectacular, said patients with major eye conditions will not be covered by the service.

He said: “If you have a minor eye condition then you can take advantage of this new and free service.”

Patients should book with the optician.
